Application Requirements

Current high school students and high school graduates who have not enrolled in a post-secondary institution after high school apply to Madonna as a freshman. Students interested in applying for undergraduate admission to Madonna University are required to submit the following:

  • Complete the online application for undergraduate admissions
  • Official high school transcript (final transcript after graduation with graduation date posted), high school equivalency certificate, homeschool completion verification, or IB transcript.
  • Essay, requirements listed below
  • ACT/SAT score(s), if applicable
  • AP test score(s), if applicable
  • ACE or military transcripts, if applicable
  • Dual Enrollment/college transcript, if applicable

International applicants and transfer applicants should be sure to review additional requirements for admission.

Essay Requirements

Madonna University engages in a holistic admissions process to account for all aspects of a student's life experience. This means that in addition to official transcripts, first time college students are required to submit an essay that showcases their unique abilities and potential outside of the classroom. 

Please write an essay (minimum of 300 words) in response to the following two-part prompt. Please make sure to follow MLA formatting guidelines and proofread before submitting. There is a rubric below to assist you with your writing.  

  • Tell us about yourself and why you would like to attend a higher education institution such as Madonna University. You may relate this to your intended major, personal interest in Madonna University’s mission, future career goals, etc... 
  • Discuss your school involvement, family life, leadership opportunities, and/or other experiences that make you a unique applicant. You may alternatively describe an achievement or event that kindled an era of self-improvement and/or personal growth.

Information for Accelerated Nursing Degree Program Applicants

What We Look for in an Applicant

The Office of Admissions begins a preliminary application evaluation once all information is received and processed. At Madonna, we take into account many factors when considering students for admission, reviewing each applicant holistically to ensure they are best-fit to succeed in our community. This includes assessment of academic achievement, personal statement, desired program of study, extracurricular involvement, and service involvement.

The admissions committee prioritizes applicants with strong academic credentials; the following is the typical academic profile of admitted undergraduate students at Madonna University.

  • Cumulative high school GPA of 2.8 or above

Financial Aid Opportunities

New for Fall 2024

Newly admitted students receiving themaximum federal Pell Grant, Michigan Tuition Grant, and Michigan Achievement Scholarship will have no additional out-of-pocket tuition expenses through our Commitment to Affordable Learning

Residence Hall Requirements

All first-year undergraduate students, whose primary U.S. residence is outside the geographical boundaries located on the Madonna Live-On Requirement Map, must reside on campus and purchase a meal plan for their first and second full academic years (fall and winter semesters) at Madonna.

Additionally, all new International (F-1 visa) and English Language program students must reside on campus and purchase a meal plan for their first and second full academic years (fall and winter semesters) at Madonna.
