Use your forensics skills to give back!

Madonna's mission receives its spirit from these Franciscan Values:

  • Respect for the dignity of each person
  • Peace and justice
  • Reverence for creation
  • Education for truth and service

Students at Madonna have numerous opportunities to give back to their community. However, students in the Forensic Science program get the opportunity to put their forensics skills and their Felician Values into action through Forensic Science Community Outreach. Our outreach programs focus on initiatives which help to restore justice to the less fortunate and often forgotten members of society.

As a sponsor and rotating host site for the Michigan State Police’s Annual Missing in Michigan event, our students provide support to families of missing persons and help to facilitate event.

Students also have the opportunity to assist the Michigan State Police Cold Case Team by verifying evidence inventories, reviewing case notes, summarizing case notes, suggesting investigative leads and identifying evidence for potential re-examination. Students may also assist local police with missing person’s searches and working with faculty members on ad hoc lab analyses.

Missing in Michigan

The Missing in Michigan Event is an annual gathering for loved ones of missing persons. The mission of the event is twofold: families and friends of missing persons share their experiences with each other and in a supportive setting. Also, loved ones of missing persons can meet with law enforcement and members of the community to review case progress, provide new information and keep these cases from going cold.

Madonna University is a proud sponsor and rotating host site for the annual Missing in Michigan Event.
