The Family Nurse Practitioner program prepares students to comprehensively assess, diagnose, and treat common acute illnesses and manage chronic stable health condition of infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adult, child bearing women, and older adult populations. Our program places an emphasis on family centered health promotion, evidence-based practice in support of quality outcomes, and guidance and counseling.
Students will complete 600 direct care supervised clinical practicum hours in a variety of settings, specialties, and serving diverse populations. Upon graduation students are prepared to become certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Commission (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and to obtain Nurse Practitioner specialty certification by the State of Michigan.
