LIVONIA, MICH. – Vicki Ashker, associate professor and chair of undergraduate nursing at Madonna University, was awarded the 2021 Angel of Mercy Award by the National American Arab Association of Nurses.
The award was created to honor nurses who are making a positive impact on patient care, nursing education or nursing leadership. A nurse educator, Ashker was nominated by colleagues who saw all that she does to serve the needs of patients and students. The award honors the contributions of Arab American nurses — whether they are nurse practitioners, nurse educators, or nurse administrators — those who truly advance the nursing profession merely by the way they perform their job.
The award event, held virtually on Oct. 21, was sponsored by Henry Ford Hospital and other hospital organizations. All local colleges of nursing were represented.
