Our Sympathies to the Michigan State University Community

Dear Madonna Community,

Our hearts are heavy as we hear the news from Michigan State University about recent violence on campus. On behalf of Madonna University, I extended our deepest sympathies to Interim President Teresa Woodruff and the entire MSU community.

Michigan State University is more than a valued partner in higher education. Many of us have family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones who study and work in the East Lansing area and who were affected by yesterday’s tragedy.  Even if you were not directly touched by last night’s happenings, they still evoke sadness, confusion, frustration, and so many other emotions. As more information comes out about the shootings, you may feel concerned and vulnerable. Employees who need counseling support are encouraged to work with their supervisor to discuss available resources.

As a reminder, Mass is offered daily in the Madonna University Center Chapel at 11:30 a.m.  I encourage you today to please take a moment to remember in prayer those who have been impacted by these events.

Students in need of support are encouraged to contact our 24/7/365 student assistance plan provider, Ulliance at 855-774-4700.  Student Affairs is working with the Counseling and Disability Resource Center to offer group support sessions for students once details have been finalized.   These will be communicated to students via Madonna email.

I extend my sincerest sympathies to all those affected by this violent act. May God’s peace be with you, and the love of Mary comfort you.

For Mary, our Madonna,
