LIVONIA, Mich. (December 5, 2022) - Madonna University, a top-ranked regional university in the midwest by U.S. News & World Report, announced today that it is welcoming Maria W. Holmes, former Director of Community Impact and External Affairs at Comcast, and James Woodworth, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Success Group Mortgage, to its board of trustees.
Holmes and Woodworth will serve three-year terms, beginning in January 2023, and they will assist in providing direction on matters related to academic programming, investment strategies, and growth initiatives, among other things.
“Our board of trustees is a distinguished group of entrepreneurs, researchers, clergy, and advisors across a diverse range of disciplines and backgrounds, and we are pleased to have Maria and James join their ranks,” said Dr. Deborah Dunn, Provost and Vice President for Academic Administration, Madonna University. “The values of Maria and James closely align with Madonna’s focus on intellectual inquiry, a respect for diversity, and a commitment to serving others, and I trust that their expertise will bring fresh perspective.”
Holmes is the former Director of Community Impact and External Affairs at Comcast, the largest American multinational telecommunications provider, where she cultivated relationships with more than 300 nonprofits, coordinated volunteer programs with more than 5,000 employees, and served as spokesperson, among other duties. Since retirement, she is focused on writing a book on her mom and serves several nonprofits.
Woodworth is currently the CEO of Success Group Mortgage, based in Owosso, Michigan. He founded the group in 2019 with fellow Madonna alumnus Aaron Cox and has grown the organization significantly since inception to service mortgages in California, Florida, Hawaii, and Michigan. A former Madonna basketball player, Woodworth was recognized as an Entrepreneur of the Year by the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2022.
Dr. Dunn added, “The board of trustees is elemental in our expansion as a university in Michigan and across the globe. Madonna’s success as a go-to private college has soared in the past 10 years, and with the board's help we will continue our upward trajectory.”
