LIVONIA, MICH. –Some 35 Madonna employees and guests from the State of Michigan actively participated in "Focus on Engagement: A Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Engagement Workshop about Racism."
The workshop was facilitated by Madonna University Trustee Rodney Patterson and his colleagues Lisa Summerour, and Brent Bilodeau from The Learner's Group, (pictured here with Chris Benson, vice president for student affairs and mission integration in the white jacket.)
While discussing the benefits to an organization, personal relationships, communities, and society at large, of understanding racism and the dangers of misunderstanding racism to those same groups, the participants learned that Race is not real, but rather a human invention. Racism, however, is very real. Patterson has made it his life’s work to eradicate racism.
Watch for the next session in this series on racism, focused on developing a deeper understanding of racism and how we can put an end to it.
