LIVONIA, MICH. – The air is buzzing with excitement as Madonna University eagerly prepares to welcome alumni, students, and their families to its much-anticipated 2023 Homecoming celebration. This year’s Homecoming promises to be a memorable event, packed with a wide range of activities and attractions for everyone to enjoy.
From captivating art exhibits to thrilling athletic competitions, there’s something for everyone during this action-packed weekend. Here’s a glimpse of the exciting schedule of events:
Thursday, Sept. 28
6:00 p.m. Madonna Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Kickstarting the Homecoming festivities is the Madonna Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. This special evening honors several esteemed members of the Madonna Athletics family who have made significant contributions to the university. The 2023 inductees include Sarah Pack-Dyer ‘03 (women’s soccer), Jeremy Gooding ‘13 (baseball), Bobby Naubert ‘14 (men’s basketball), and Sr. Nancy Marie Jamroz ‘67 (administration).
Friday, Sept. 29
8:00 a.m. Crusaders Classic – 18-hole Golf Scramble
For golf enthusiasts, the Crusaders Classic at Whispering Willows Golf Course is a must-attend event. Tee off with fellow Crusaders at 9 a.m. and enjoy a day of camaraderie, games, prizes, and a virtual raffle. Plus, the funds raised will support the Scholar-Athlete Lounge.
7:00 p.m. Volleyball vs. Aquinas College
Cheer for our Madonna Crusaders as they face off against Aquinas College in an exciting volleyball match at the ACCU Arena.
Saturday, Sept. 30
10:30 a.m. Madonna Employee Reunion
Former and current Madonna employees are invited to a heartwarming get-together. Come reconnect with colleagues who have been part of the Madonna family.
11:30 a.m. Men’s Soccer vs. Aquinas College
Join us at the Madonna Athletic Complex as our Men’s soccer team takes on Aquinas College.
11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Alumni Art Exhibit Opening
Experience the creative side of Madonna University at the Alumni Art Exhibit Opening. Explore the exhibit and participate in art activities suitable for all ages.
1:30 p.m. Women’s Soccer vs. Aquinas College
Join us at the Madonna Athletic Complex as our Women’s soccer team takes on Aquinas College.
1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Meet the Author with Kayvonna Stigall '08
Meet Kayvonna Stigall '08, an accomplished author, for a poetry reading, Q&A session, and a reception with light snacks and refreshments.
2:00 p.m. Crusaders Football vs. University of St. Francis (Indiana) Cougars
Head over to Churchill High School to witness the excitement of Crusaders Football as they face off against the University of St. Francis (Indiana) Cougars. Come be part of the cheering crowd!
2:00 p.m. Volleyball vs. Cornerstone University
Another thrilling volleyball match awaits at the ACCU Arena as our Crusaders take on Cornerstone University. Come and let your support echo through the arena.
3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Music and Memories by the Pond
Celebrate the 60th anniversary of Madonna’s music program and the 20th anniversary of the Lyric Theatre by the serene pond. Be sure to attend for an afternoon filled with melodies and memories.
5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cheers to Scholarships
Raise a glass for a good cause at Cheers to Scholarships, a fundraiser featuring wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, non-alcoholic options, silent auction, and a wine pull. Your participation directly contributes to scholarships for deserving students.
Sunday, Oct. 1
9:30 a.m. Mass
Start the day with a Mass at the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Central Chapel
11:00 a.m. Milestone Alumni Reunion Brunch
Cap off this unforgettable Homecoming weekend by attending the Milestone Alumni Reunion Brunch, celebrating 5-year class reunions, such as 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, and more. Be sure to attend to reminisce with fellow alumni.
