LIVONIA, MICH. – Six Madonna University faculty members and five graduate students representing Nutrition, Social Work, Nursing, Education, and Forensic Science spent a month in the Philippines meeting with university and community groups as part of the Fulbright-Hays grant. The team established connections with departments at four different universities, had a lesson in the ancient sport of Arnis, visited ruins from World War II, marched in the Independence Day Parade with the people of Silay, and visited Gawad Kalinga, a group that builds homes for the poor.
The group is pictured taking a bamboo bike ride through the streets of Manila, at the Fulbright Commission Reception, and taking a traditional Jeepney ride.
