LIVONIA, MICH. – Madonna University alumni from the broadcast and cinema arts and the music programs celebrated the North American premiere of their film Lady Parts last weekend at the Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, Alabama. The film was showcased with 249 other films. Saturday's premiere was a sell-out, with over 100 people turned away at the door. Due to the film's overwhelming reception, the festival added a coveted, encore screening on Sunday which prompted people to line up two hours early to secure a seat. The venue added extra chairs, and the filmmakers relinquished their seats, and still some attendees were turned away. The film received a standing ovation, and the Best Narrative Feature-Audience Choice award at the awards ceremony! The team won the same award at the Florida Film Festival.

A representative from the Mississippi Film Society posted on social media, “The future of film is whatever these women want to do. So much talent on the page, behind the camera, and on the screen.”

The production team includes alumni Director Nancy Boyd (at the festival), Producer Meghan Griesbeck, Color Assistant Davis Clenney, Production Sound Mixer Jacob Eliott, and Production Assistant Brett Wheat.
