LIVONIA, MICH. – Madonna University recently concluded its Martin Luther King Jr. Week celebration and is now preparing for a series of Black History Month events throughout February.
The MLK Week, which ran from January 22-30, featured several key events. The main "Bridging to Belonging" event took place on January 22, followed by a service opportunity on January 24. A human perspective event and candlelight pilgrimage were held on January 28, with the week concluding with a movie night on January 30.
As part of the MLK Week activities, MaryPacaeli Obi, a nursing student, won the essay contest sponsored by the Livonia Human Relations Commission. Obi's essay focused on the importance of addressing mental health stigma and providing support for those with mental illness.
Alacia McCaa won the photo contest with an image capturing diversity at Madonna University. McCaa's photo depicted a group of students from various backgrounds, emphasizing the university's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
