LIVONIA, MICH. – The FAFSA Simplification Act was passed by Congress in 2020 and included a significant change to the processes and systems utilized by the federal government to award student aid. These changes went into effect for the 2024-2025 application and have resulted in delays for students accessing the form and institutions accessing student data. Despite the unexpected delays in the US Department of Education’s processing of Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) data. Madonna University remains committed to delivering an accessible and affordable education to all students.

FAFSA Delays and Actions for Students

We recognize this delay may cause uncertainty and stress for prospective and current students. While we await FAFSA data, Madonna is taking proactive steps to ensure a smooth financial aid process and to maintain our affordability.

Students who have not yet submitted their 2024-2025 FAFSA application are encouraged to do so before March 1, 2024. Be sure to include Madonna University’s code (002282) to ensure your information is received once it is made available.

If you have already submitted your FAFSA, please be patient. Madonna University will prioritize creating and sending out financial aid offers as soon as student information is released.

Madonna University is Committed to Affordability

Recognizing the potential impact of these delays, Madonna University is taking several steps to ensure an affordable education for all students.

Reduced Live-On Requirement: Starting Fall 2024, the live-on requirement for students has been reduced from two years to one year. Additionally, the boundary defining on-campus residency has been expanded, providing increased flexibility for students. More information is available on the Residence Life webpage.

Commitment to Affordable Learning: Newly admitted students receiving the maximum federal Pell Grant, Michigan Tuition Grant, and Michigan Achievement Scholarship will have no additional out-of-pocket tuition expenses beginning in Fall 2024. Details are available on the Financial Aid webpage.

Increased Scholarships: Madonna University has increased merit-based scholarships for all newly admitted students beginning in Fall 2024. This change will benefit first-year, transfer, and international students. More information is available on the undergraduate scholarships and grants page.

While the FAFSA delay may cause temporary inconvenience, we understand your concerns and are here to support you through this process. Madonna’s commitment to affordability remains steadfast. Remember, our Admissions and Financial Aid Offices are available to answer your questions and address your concerns.
