MSN in Nursing Administration 

The MSN in Nursing Administration degree prepares students for leadership roles in a variety of clinical settings. In addition to building advanced nursing knowledge, the Nursing Administration degree also fosters problem-solving, conflict management, communication, and collaboration skill development. Students also learn how to apply principles of stewardship to the process of decision making.

Nursing Administration Certification Opportunities

Graduates of the MSN in Nursing Administration program may elect to become certified by the ANCC as either Nurse Executive or Nurse Executive Advanced, depending on their administrative experience or the AONL as either a Nurse Manager Leader or an Executive in Nursing Practice. The program provides 420 clock hours of supervised practicum. 

MSN/MBA Dual Degree

Madonna also offers a Master of Science in Nursing / Master of Business Administration (MBA) dual degree program for students seeking careers in upper management in healthcare facilities. The MSN/MBA degree prepares students for executive-level nursing administration practice, improving population health outcomes through the integration of theory, research, clinical judgment, and inter- and intraprofessional collaboration. 

MSN/MBA students build upon the Nursing Administration curriculum, taking 22 additional credits that dive deeper into marketing, finance, economics, business law, and ethics. Projects and research provide hands-on learning opportunities that refine important marketing and financial management skills across the care continuum. MSN Admission Requirements

Students applying to one of Madonna’s Master of Science in Nursing degrees must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a program accredited by a nursing professional accreditation agency (CCNE, CNEA, or ACEN) with an overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must also submit the following to be considered for admission:

  • Completed online application for graduate admission
  • Statement of goals for graduate education
  • Official transcript from all colleges and universities attended
  • GRE test scores for applicants with an overall undergraduate GPA below 3.25
  • Current unencumbered RN license in the United States
  • Two letters of professional recommendation, one must be from a nurse
  • Curriculum vitae or resume
  • Admission interview with MSN program director
  • Criminal background clearance

Denise Robinson

Shortly after graduating from our dual degree program, Denise was promoted from the role of Site Administrator for Henry Ford Medical Group to Nursing Administrator at Henry Ford Hospital, managing 18 direct reports and more than 750 indirect reports. 

Denise is responsible for all of the medical general practice units as well as e 68 bed medical intensive care beds. She was a Nightingale Award nominee in 2013, and received the 2015 Shadow of a Leader award for Henry Ford Hospital.
