Take your career to the next level
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Gerontology
This 9 semester certificate provides practicing APRN’s (NP’s and CNS’s) the opportunity
to experience an interdisciplinary approach to managing the complex health care needs
of older adults and their families with a specialty focus on culturally sensitive,
evidence based care management strategies that include gerontology pharmacology, physiology
and assessment considerations. A 60 hour interdisciplinary field experience is part
of this certificate program. Students who hold a nurse practitioner certification
without gerontology and wish to obtain “gerontology” certification will be required
to complete an additional 4 semester hour clinical practicum course with a local preceptor
in SARA participating states.
