Building a Legacy of Excellence

The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) Doctor of Nursing practice (DNP) program prepares graduates to provide comprehensive care for young adults, adults, and older adults with complex acute, critical and chronic health conditions at the highest level of nursing practice. Our program places an emphasis on translation of evidence-based patient centered care in support of quality outcomes, interdisciplinary seamless care transitions, and providing care for the vulnerable and underserved. In addition this program will prepare graduates to lead and shape the future of health care through an appreciation of health policy, organizational and systems leadership, and economics and finance.

This 70 credit post BSN to DNP with MSN exit offers both full-time and part-time options for degree completion.  The program offers a mix of hybrid, online and on-campus course delivery.  Students enrolled in the program will complete 600 hours of direct care to patients in a variety of acute care inpatient settings and specialties.  Students are exposed to hands on skill development necessary for advanced practice in the acute care setting.  The DNP project is course based with development beginning toward the completion of the MSN degree. Students will have the opportunity to take the Adult Gerontology Certification Exam offered   through American Nurses Credentialing Commission (ANCC) or the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and to obtain Nurse Practitioner specialty certification through the State of Michigan at the time of MSN completion.
