Intramural League Completes Inaugural Season
December 07, 2017
LIVONIA, Mich. – The Madonna University Intramural League was established this academic year, to offer students an opportunity to have fun, relieve stress and feel engaged on campus. Coordinated and directed by Jalen Harton and Donavan Seals of the Sport Management Society (SMS), the league chose basketball as the first sport to be introduced.
There were four teams that competed on the court during fall semester: The Purple Apes, MU Demons, Pep-Pep Boyz, and The Ballers. On December 5, 2017, the intramural league held its first championship game. The Purple Apes faced the MU Demons, whom they defeated 73-56 to win the championship title.
Members of SMS are working with the staff in Madonna’s athletics department to provide more intramural sports on campus in the future. During the winter semester, Harton and Seals would like to have more teams and players sign up to play.
“We hope to see more students take advantage of this opportunity,” said Harton. “And, since the league is co-ed, we are encouraging more women to participate,” Harton said.
The new season begins in February 2018 with the possible addition of indoor and sand volleyball and flag football. More information will be provided to students in mid-January. For any additional information please contact Jalen Harton at firstname.lastname@example.org.
