"Being someone that has always had a love for music, but never having any formal training before college, I knew focusing on a degree in Music Management was the perfect avenue for me and my future. During my time at Madonna, I was able to work with many other talented musicians and receive professional training from various professors in the Music Department. They helped me not only in the music areas where I lacked, but also with my confidence and ways to market myself as a performer, as well as other bands/companies. It was so rewarding seeing how hard everyone worked to transform me into the performer and student they knew I could be.

Since graduating in the spring of 2016, I have traveled all over Michigan and even crossed state lines performing at festivals, weddings and various other venues with my band, Athens Creek. We are currently in the middle of writing new music and working toward recording this coming fall.

My time at Madonna University has played a tremendous role in shaping me for my career and I will forever be grateful for my experience there."

"Currently, I am a composer and instructor of film score and piano at Broughton Music Center in Northville. I am also the founder of "Melody," a music program taught at The Healing Haven, which is a wonderful non profit organization that provides ABA therapy to children with autism. It amazes me every day how music can improve the lives of kids and their families.

My experience at MU has given me the chance to find my dream career, my fiancé and many close friends. I am so thankful for every professor who pushed me to be the very best student and person I can be. MU offers many courses that encourage small group discussions, which were very beneficial to my education. Who wants to ask a question in front of a 200+ person lecture hall? Many universities have professors who do not know the students' names because of the large class size. At Madonna University, you will not feel like a number, but part of a family. Also, letters of recommendation are much more meaningful when written by a friend who has personally helped you grow academically and as an individual. I would not have the life I do now had I gone to another university. I will always be grateful for my time at MU.

"Madonna University has helped me to network with many local music/education professionals, through classes, observations, workshops, and concerts. Being acquainted with Madonna's faculty is like being in the 'In-Network.' I was constantly immersed with knowledge of the job market, local school districts, and the evolving music education guidelines. My close relationships with faculty members made for strong references when it came time for my job search. Often times, the faculty's names themselves were enough to get my foot in the door, as they are well respected in the surrounding communities for their talents/leadership.

"The Music Education coursework provided a wide variety of knowledge that made me more marketable as a teacher. Having coursework in both vocal and instrumental classes, I was able to get a job teaching at an upper elementary building where I was needed to help with both the vocal and instrumental program. Had I not attended Madonna, I would most likely have only been specialized in one of these areas and still looking for a job.

"I can honestly say that in only a short time of graduating I have used most of the skills obtained from my MU coursework... even those skills that I thought I would never use, like instrumental techniques!

"Thank you, to the Madonna University Music Department, for all of your support. Even after graduating, I know that I can come back to visit any time and be warmly received, as if I were family."

“My experience as a Music student at Madonna University was really great! Through a variety of opportunities, from the highest quality of education to the performance experiences, each one has played a part in preparing me for life and in developing my abilities as a musician. Shortly after graduating, I was offered a teaching position. I am proud to be a MU graduate who is backed by the highest standard of excellence in education!”
–Amy St. John, ’06 Bachelor of Arts - Vocal

"The educational training I received from Madonna University was a blessing that is second to none. I will always be grateful to all of the exemplary instructors I was privileged to learn from. I presently work at Fordline and North Pointe elementary schools located in the Southgate Community School District. I have been with Southgate for the last ten years teaching vocal music to grades K-5."
–Anthony Richendollar, '00 Bachelor of Science - Music Education

"Being a graduate of Madonna University has been an awesome experience! Through my education and formation at Madonna, I received the foundations needed to go out into the world, be a disciple and share my passion of faith, ministry and music with others. Since my 2008 graduation, I have served as an elementary music teacher at a catholic school in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, a director of worship and music at a parish in Riverview, MI and now the director of liturgy and pastoral music at a growing catholic church in North Las Vegas, NV."
–Patrick Paddock, Sacred Music '08

"I think what I liked most about the Madonna University Department of Music was the intimate environment set by the faculty! They have the experience of professors from "big universities" yet because of the great teacher-to-student ratio, you can work with the teachers as much as you need to; it is as if you have the best of both worlds. The music professors want you to succeed and they will see to it that you do! At the last minute I decided to go to college instead of the service and it may have been the best decision of my life!"

"As a young adult, I possessed an incredible passion for music that drove me to find a music-based education with a setting that matched my personality. The faculty and students at Madonna have magnified that fiery passion within me by allowing me to grow with the music I studied, and have shown me how to successfully share that passion with other people. A young musician’s soul should only be left in the hands of those who know how to properly educate, expose, cultivate, and nurture the emotionally tender spirit of a performing artist that will drive them into the real world as a person who is prepared, punctual, and professional. The rigorous and dedicated education I received took me through a whirlwind of adventure, and set me on a favorable path to success that is rewarding and fulfilling. Go Crusaders!"
